The 2015-2016 Student Board Member

Any student who is a California resident, enrolled in a California public high school, and who will be enrolled in good standing in the twelfth grade in the 2015-2016 school year may apply. The Governor appoints one high school senior to serve on the State Board of Education for a one-year term. The student member functions as a regular voting member of the State Board of Education.

The Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS)

The role of the ACCS is to advise the State Board of Education all aspects of the State Board's duties under the Charter Schools Act of 1992. Applicants are being sought to fill three positions. Among those selected must be applicants representing county superintendents of schools, charter parents, and teachers.

The State Board of Education encourages applications from individuals with strong knowledge, experience, and interest in effective charter operations and authorization and in other state charter school policy.

The Instructional Quality Commission (IQC)

The IQC is responsible for advising the SBE on matters related to curriculum and instruction. The State Board of Education is recruiting currently practicing teachers with teaching experience and expertise in science, history-social science, world languages and/or health to apply.
