ACSE Committee Member Mariano Sanz noted CNCA Kayne Siart's dynamic blended inclusion model as one of numerous reasons it was selected for the award. In this dynamic inclusion model student supports are based around on-going data analysis of students from numerous sources. Commissioner Sanz noted that the school's philosophy was that all adults are responsible for all children, and that they really mean it--not just all teachers, but all adults are responsible for the success of all the students.
Other exemplary practices at Kayne Siart include school year planning starting with special education at the core and the deep collaboration and co-teaching between special education and general education staff. All of these aspects and more allow CNCA Kayne Siart to provide equitable access to a rigorous, college-bound education to all students, and they serve a range of students with disabilities ranging from mild to severe.
The award will officially be presented to CNCA Kayne Siart at a later ACSE meeting, where the school will share more about its practices and dynamic inclusion model. The meeting and presentation can be viewed live via webcast.
