U.S. News & World Report Announces the 2016 Best High Schools Rankings

On Tuesday, April 19, according to their press release, U.S. News & World Report announced the 2016 Best High Schools rankings, featuring top-performing schools at the national and state level. The Best High Schools rankings evaluate data on more than 21,500 public high schools to identify which schools are best at preparing students for college and careers.

Five-percent of the nation's top 100 high schools are charter schools located in California, with a total of 34 charter schools on the list of 100. The California schools listed by their U.S. News & World Report ranking are:

  • #26, Stockton Collegiate International Secondary, Stockton, CA
  • #55, University Preparatory Academy Charter, San Jose, CA
  • #81, University High School (Fresno), Fresno, CA
  • #86, KIPP San Jose Collegiate, San Jose, CA
  • #98, Preuss School UCSD, San Diego, CA

The report also lists the state comparison of all public high schools with California ranking third. California also had the most gold awards - 84 - given to schools.
