Action Alerts: Ask Governor Brown to Sign AB 1198 and Veto AB 709
September 9, 2016Urge Governor Brown to SIGN AB 1198!
CCSA's sponsored legislation on charter school facilities, AB 1198 (Dababneh), was approved by the California Legislature and is now on Governor Brown's desk for consideration. AB 1198 would save charter schools thousands of dollars on facilities by providing them more affordable financing rates. Now we need to convince Governor Brown to sign this important legislation. It is critically important that Governor Brown hear from as many charter school supporters as possible in support of AB 1198.
Please take a moment to send a letter to Governor Brown urging him to sign AB 1198! There are just 22 days left to sign or veto legislation and we encourage you to submit your letter as soon as possible.
Action 2: Ask Governor Brown to VETO AB 709!
AB 709 would apply a series of conflict of interest laws to charter schools. CCSA opposes AB 709 because it would impose Government Code 1090 on charter schools, remove important flexibility for charter school governance, and cost charter schools time and money spent on compliance that is better spent in the classroom. AB 709 is nearly identical to a conflict of interest bill from the last legislative session that was opposed by CCSA and vetoed by Governor Brown.
Please help us ensure Governor Brown hears loud and clear that AB 709 is bad for charter schools and charter school students, and should be vetoed. Send a letter today!
