Educator as Advocate Symposium at LMU
September 15, 2016
CCSA's own Ricardo Soto was featured on a panel with speakers from the Office of Civil Rights, Learning Rights Law Center, and LMU on the top education myths, where he addressed concerns that charter schools don't serve all students. Attendees ranged from social justice lawyers and LAUSD principals to students in LMU's education program.
Great materials from the symposium are already available to schools, including:
- Public Counsel's Toolkit on School Discipline: "How We Can Fix School Discipline, Toolkit for Educators"
- Alliance for Children's Rights Toolkit on Foster Youth: "Foster Youth Toolkit"
- The Office for Civil Rights new guidance (out September 8th!) on school police: "Dear Colleague Letter on Campus Policing"
