Governor Releases Proposed 2017-18 State Budget: School Funding Levels Off

On January 10, 2017, Governor Jerry Brown introduced his proposed state budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year. The budget reflects a slowing down of the state’s economy and includes mostly “workload adjustments” for K-12 education, including $744 million more for the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and $58 million in one-time block grants. This is the first step in the budget process before a final plan is adopted in June 2017. CCSA will provide a full CCSA Budget Brief and additional resources in the coming days.

UPDATED: LAUSD Charter Operated Program Application Deadline Feb. 3

There is an updated deadline for LAUSD charter schools to apply for membership in Option 3 in the Charter Operated Program, which allows each charter school access to a proportionate share of special education funding and to assume full responsibility for providing a free appropriate public education to students. Applications to be part of the program for the 2017-18 school year are due Thursday, February 3. Learn more.
