California Charter Schools Association Recruits Jeff Macedo as Senior Director, Communications

Sacramento – The California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) has recruited veteran media relations professional Jeff Macedo to be the organization’s senior director, communications. He brings more than two decades of media relations, political campaign, broadcast news and California State Capitol experience to the statewide organization.

“Jeff is a strong addition to our External Affairs team and will help develop, organize and execute a comprehensive, strategic and proactive communications and media outreach plan that increases visibility and support for CCSA and the charter public schools we serve,” said Myrna Castrejón, CCSA President and CEO. “During this unprecedented time for the education sector, we are pleased to welcome Jeff who will help highlight the positive impact that charters are making in leading by example, serving their students and communities with the high-quality education they expect and deserve.”

Jeff’s state capitol experience includes serving as communications director and chief of staff for Senator Anthony Cannella of California’s 12th Senate District, which covered the heart of the Central Valley and Salinas Valley. Previously, he served as deputy press secretary in the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, after working on Governor Schwarzenegger’s re-election campaign.

His broadcast news experience includes working as a producer for local and national television networks, including KMAX/KOVR in Sacramento, TechTV, and MSNBC. He has also worked on multiple political campaigns at the local, state and national level.

As senior director, communications, Jeff will serve as a spokesperson for CCSA and work directly with the chief external affairs officer to amplify the organization’s mission through creative and effective communications platforms statewide, increasing public awareness and support for high-quality charter public schools.
