Joni is the Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer and manages the day-to-day advocacy work across the Government Affairs, Local Advocacy, and Legal teams. She has been at CCSA since 2010, serving on the CCSA Advocates side and, prior to that, on the Regional Advocacy team. In these roles, Joni led the strategic planning and performance tracking for the teams and managed interdepartmental campaigns to elect charter-school supporters to public office and to provide public school facilities to charter schools. Before joining CCSA, she taught for five years—two with Teach For America in New York City and another three at a charter school in Chicago. Joni holds a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She enjoys baking chocolate chip cookies, reading pop nonfiction, and having existential conversations with friends.
