California Charter Schools Association Announces Ana Tintocalis as Director, Media Relations and Research

September 29, 2020

Sacramento – The California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) has announced the addition of Ana Tintocalis as the organization’s director of media relations and research. Ana is a former broadcast journalist who spent more than a decade reporting on K-12 education policy issues in California for KQED-San Francisco and KPBS-San Diego, two of the state’s premiere National Public Radio (NPR) member stations. Her stories about how policy effects students, parents and educators garnered state and national awards, including the Sol Prize Award for Responsible Journalism by the Society of Professional Journalists San Diego Chapter.

“Ana’s ability to communicate powerful, dynamic stories about the genuine success stories within California’s public education system is a true asset to our organization,” said Myrna Castrejón, CCSA President and CEO. “She will help amplify all the good work public charter schools are doing to help close the achievement gap and bring equity to classrooms up and down this great state.”

Most recently, Ana was the senior manager of communications at the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE), a statewide agency that works alongside other state agencies, partner agencies, county offices of education (COEs), and stakeholders to address the most pressing needs of California’s local educational agencies (LEAs). In this role, Ana developed and executed various strategic communications campaigns that included rebranding, media relations, website development and digital communications. Her expertise was instrumental in setting a new course for the agency, leading to more political and public support.

As director of media relations and research at CCSA, Ana will support the organization’s mission through creative and effective communications platforms that increase public awareness and support for high-quality public charter schools. She will also leverage her strong relationships with local, state and national media outlets and journalists to increase visibility and support for the organization.

Ana is based in Sacramento and can be reached at atintocalis@ccsa.org or 916-539-5184.
