Raquel is the Vice President of Southern California Local Advocacy. She leads the team in the execution of advocacy priorities in Southern California and serves as the face of CCSA with coalition partners, elected leaders and charter members. She has over 20 years of experience in government relations, governance, and education advocacy. Upon earning her degree in psychology from San Diego State University she ran for public office. She served as an elected school trustee and legislative staffer. A native Californian, Raquel grew up in the border town of San Ysidro and experienced a culturally rich upbringing straddling both sides of the MX/US border. She is married and has two sons who attend San Diego charter schools. In her spare time, Raquel loves to read, listen to her sons’ rock band practice and relax with her two cats and her dog.
